Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments- Kids Sewing Series at One Savvy Mom™ Project #7

These Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments are such a fun and simple holiday craft to do with kids! This kids Christmas craft yields the most adorable snowman ornaments, great for keeping as a handmade keepsake, or gifting to friends and family!

Hi friends, how have you been? The last two Sundays have been spent making handmade goodies, using all of our accumulated craft scraps from the past year, for an upcoming holiday craft fair. We whipped up two dozen of these little cuties yesterday, and I just LOVE how they turned out. They all have unique touches (pompom earmuffs, felt earmuffs, burlap ribbon bows, etc.) - no two are alike! So much CUTENESS! This is Project #7 in our Kids Sewing Series, here at One Savvy Mom™.

Read on for the simple supply list and our easy tutorial, to make your own Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments with the kids this holiday season!

Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments How-To - Kids Sewing Series at One Savvy Mom™ Project #7

What you'll need:
  • 3" embroidery hoop
  • scissors
  • sewing needle
  • orange embroidery floss
  • black embroidery floss
  • black felt
  • orange felt
  • white fabric
scrap fabric, ribbon, and yarn (for optional embellishments)
  • bakers twine or clear thread / cord, to create a hanger for your Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments.
 How to:
  1. Secure white fabric in a 3" embroidery hoop
  2. Using scissors and black felt, cut two larger circles to create eyes for your snowman, and cut several smaller circles to create a mouth for your snowman.
  3. Using scissors and orange felt, cut a triangle to create a "carrot" nose for your snowman.
  4. Using black embroidery floss, a needle, and a large cross stitch, affix each of your snowman's felt eyes to the top center.
  5. Now, using black embroidery floss, a needle, and a small cross stitch, affix each of the smaller circles to the bottom center (in a semi-circle pattern) to create a mouth for your snowman (refer to imagery above and below.)
  6. Next, using orange embroidery floss, a needle and a simple back stitch, affix your carrot nose to the center, to create a nose for your snowman.
  7. Optional: Add a burlap bow, pompom earmuffs, felt earmuffs, a felt scarf to embellish each of your snowman ornaments.
  8. Add a twine, ribbon, or clear thread hanger to your mini embroidery hoop snowman ornament by pulling one end through the center (just under the screw); tie off in a knot or a bow.
Hang your completed Mini Embroidery Hoop Snowman Ornaments on your Christmas tree and enjoy, or gift it to someone special this holiday season!

Happy crafting and Happy Holidays, friends!
