With the busiest time of year nearly upon us, it's got me thinking. This year, I would really like to take time to enjoy the season, rather than rushing around from place to place ticking off the boxes on my long list of to-do's.
Keeping in theme with this classic song, I've come up with a fun way to celebrate the holiday season with my husband, with 12 days of love. I put together 12 fun gift bags. One for each of the 12 days leading up to the holiday. Basically they are starter ideas for at-home date nights. With 3 kids, we rarely have the time to leave the house alone, so this is a fun way to spend time together during the otherwise busy and hectic holiday season.

What you'll need:
- 12 festive gift bags or boxes
- 12 gift tags ( I found these cute wooden tags at Walmart in 4 packs for $1 each).
- Paint Pen or Permanent Marker
- 12 fun gifts/date night starter ideas of your choosing
- Optional: tape - if using gift boxes tape will come in handy for affixing your numbered gift tags.
- Optional: Tissue paper - if you're using gift bags.
How to:
Step 1: Number your gift tags. Allow adequate time for drying if your using a paint pen.
Step 2: Tie all of your tags to the handles of your gift bags or affix them to your gift boxes using tape.
Step 3: Pack your bags and a fluff of tissue paper if you're using gift bags.
These are some of the gifts that I packed into the pictured gift bags for my husband this holiday season.
12 days of love gifts / at-home date night starter ideas:
- Have a movie night in: pop a new DVD + a bag of microwave popcorn into one of your gift bags and enjoy some time cuddling on the sofa while you watch the movie together.
- Bring the coffee house to your kitchen: No time to head out alone? Bring the coffee house to your kitchen! Add a bag of his favorite coffee and 2 new coffee cups to a bag. Enjoy a cup of coffee and chat after the kids go to sleep.
- Bake together! ‘Tis the season! The holidays are synonymous with baking. Put the dry ingredients for your favorite cookies into a gift bag along with a few new cookie cutters. Spend some time in the kitchen baking together. When you're cookies are done baking, enjoy them with a cup of hot cocoa and some good conversation.
