Are your kids in a super hero frenzy, with all of the new super hero flicks? I know my kids are! We made no-sew upcycled super hero capes this week, using upcycled old men's t-shirts - and they're fun and simple to make. These no-sew upcycled super hero capes are perfect for creative play and dress up fun - they cost very little to make - and require only a few simple supplies [that you most likely already have around the house].
What you will need + Instructions:
- Scissors
- White [washable crayon] or quilting pencil
- An old men's T-Shirt [size large/x-large work best for this project - depending on your child's height] - Use your white crayon or quilting pencil to mark your cutting lines. You want to cut around the neck of the shirt [leaving the entire neck hole in tact]. Cut away the entire front of the shirt and sleeves leaving only the back of the shirt [attached to the neck hole] see above image.
- Fabric Glue
- Scrap Fabric or a "Fat Quarter" of Fabric [found at most craft stores for around $1]. Cut out desired shapes from scraps of fabric / fat quarter of fabric. Affix to the cape with fabric glue. Allow adequate time for drying.
- Puffy Paint or Fabric Paint/Markers Have your child decorate their cape with puffy paint /fabric paint to their specifications. Allow adequate time for drying.
[Note: Adult supervision recommended while creating this craft - recommended for ages 6+]
