This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the NYC Premiere of Epic. The day kicked off with a premiere screening of Epic, at the beautiful Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan. Guests and cast members of the film walked the "green" carpet [pictured above] before entering the screening. Afterwards we all headed to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to interview cast members - Colin Farrel, Amanda Seyfried, Aziz Ansari, Chris O'Dowd - and director Chris Wedge.
Chris O'Dowd [the voice of Grub] and Aziz Ansari [the voice of Mub] had us all laughing hysterically - these are two very funny guys!
The characters of Grub and Mub play unlikely hero's in Epic - a snail and a slug - who would have thought that this would be the pair that would help save the day? But that's just it. The storyline of Epic turns all logic on it's ear and inspires viewers to look a little deeper and essentially - be more open to the infinite possibilities.
"There's the fight for what you believe in, which I think
is really important - even if it looks like you're not the perfect person to do
that. You can be a hero [even if you have
a shell]" said Chris O'Dowd.
Comedy is clearly something that comes easily for Aziz Ansari and Chris O'Dowd - the punch-lines roll naturally {and continuously} for this pair.
Aziz Ansari has found that comedy provides a common ground. "I think humor is the way we connect with each other, you
know? I think humor is about sharing. You're
sharing a thought about something that you found funny -you're connecting with someone if you're both
laughing about it" said Mr. Ansari.
Chris O'Dowd joked about his talent, saying "I was the youngest of five, so if you weren’t funny,
you didn't get fed. That was kind of it."
