The VH1 Save The Music Family Day aims to give children of all ages a stage to express their love of music, culture and creativity through an exciting interactive musical expo for families. The inaugural Family Day in 2011 saw over 1,000 guests and featured live performances from Mat Kearney, HANSON, Hot Peas ‘N Butter, SafetySuit, The American Secrets a.k.a. FreeCreditScore.com band and nine-year-old violin prodigy Brianna Kahane.
This year’s event will feature a live deejay set by nine-year-old sensation DJ Fulano. A protégé of DJ Cassidy, DJ Fulano is not only deejaying around the country, but also recording a rap album and modeling for major publications and clothing brands.
Throughout the day, friends and families will have the opportunity to play, learn, share and celebrate music in ways that will delight both your children and your inner child. The daylong festival offers a number of fun features, including: “Welcome To The Jungle” interactive stations, a “Try This” Instrument Discovery Zone, “We Got The Beat” Drum Circle presented by NAMM and Juice Box Rated Workshops hosted by Disney.
There will also be a street vendor food showcase in the parking lot, where you can grab a bite from La Bella Torte, Toum, Coolhaus or Palenque Homemade Colombian; the participating street vendors will donate 10% of the price of your lunch to benefit the Foundation. Continuing through the music expo, you will find Rock ‘N Read Story Time with Tracy Delio and The Secret Adventures of Louie V, as well as the “Hey Momma” Market featuring scarves by Otrera, Chalkboard Tees, CDs from Moey’s Music Party and more.
