The wisdom of Fred Rogers and his unforgettable children's series "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" is reflected in the new children's television series "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood", coming to PBS this Fall. Though it is admittedly impossible to recreate what Fred Rogers and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood brought to so many generations in years past; Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood will convey some of the same familiar wisdom and messages of kindness that so clearly set this television icon apart from the rest.
Parents will fondly recognize the similarities between Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. The infamous Trolley, the characters-though this is a fully animated series, the signature cardigan that Daniel Tiger is outfitted in - it's all there. The memorable theme song from Mr.Roger's Neighborhood is also presented in-part, in the beginning of the Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood theme song, so you'll surely find yourself singing along (I know I was) and more than a little nostalgic.

Daniel Tiger: Daniel Tiger is the star of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and is son of Fred Rogers' puppet of the same name. Daniel is a shy preschooler who loves to play Make-Believe, wear his signature red sweater and invite friends for a ride on the Neighborhood Trolley!
Miss Elaina: Miss Elaina lives in the Museum-Go-Round and is the daughter of Lady Elaine Fairchilde (remember her from the original Mister Rogers' Neighborhood?) and Music Man Stan, who run the neighborhood music shop.
Prince Wednesday: Prince Wednesday is the youngest member of the royal family headed by King Friday, Prince Wednesday lives in the castle where Daniel Tiger often visits to play.
Katerina Kittycat: Katerina Kittycat lives in a treehouse with her mom, Henrietta Pussycat. She loves to play dress up and pretend – but her very favorite activity is ballet (and she’s always twirling about)!
O The Owl: O is Daniel’s curious best friend who is always on the lookout for something new and "nifty galifty" to learn! He loves to read, and has a book for every occasion! O lives in a tree with his Uncle X and both owls like everything to be ‘just so’ with structure and rules.
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood first debuted in 1967 and over more than forty years on public television defined television at its finest. As TV Guide said: “Television is all about coveting, but Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is about appreciating what you already have, about caring for others and seeing the best in them.”
The library of programs explore the major themes of childhood through dialogue, songs, visits with guests, and the Neighborhood of Make-Believe puppet stories.
Over the years, research confirmed that watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood helped young children develop the emotional and social skills needed for learning in and out of school.
